Back to work

Welcome back Claudia -- it's been very quiet without you. I hope that your family problems are at least partly on their way to being solved.

JJ -- sorry, with all the new threads I missed your reply to my post about Gordon Brown, Third World Disctatorships etc. I have now posted my response on that page where is belongs, rather than here.

Hi, JennyH.
Yes, it has been quite, sadly.
I'm back to work and I was finally thinking things would get back to as normal as possible. Had a football night with people I love, some laughs, good food, a good time, basically. And then I find out that my uncle will have to go through another surgery again very soon. To be honest, I'm incredibly tired. I'm not usually the kind of person who asks much. I only wish good health to the people I love. Remember when I told you I wasn't very optimistic? Sadly it seems I was right.

Hi Claudia -

Welcome back, but sorry to hear about your poor uncle. I sincerely hope he recovers from surgery and your worries some to an end soon.

Try to get some much needed sleep.

Bad news today that Goncalo Amaral has been silenced, but not before selling thousands of copies of his book worldwide - with the exception of this country which is not at all surprising. I think the McCann Machine, maybe unwittingly, have given him centre stage and this will only serve to encourage people to look for it and read it.

I somehow don't think this will silence a brave man like Goncalo, or others who have an opinion to express!

Thanks, anon.
But I'm tired of breaks for the wrong reasons. Sadly, I might have to have another one soon.

Hi, Nancy.
Home for lunch.
Thanks. My uncle is very ill. I'm not optimistic at all, to be honest. He recently underwent an almost 8 hour surgery and he is very, very weak. Sadly, yesterday we found out there is another problem to solve (if it is solvable).
You are right. Yesterday was a sad day for democracy. At least temporarily. I'm sure I would have felt sadder if my mind wasn't occupied with other serious matters but to be honest, I'm going through a more 'selfish' phase which I think is understandable given what has been going on with the people I love.
Let's hope all goes well.
Thank you for your kind words.

Claudia -

I am so sorry to hear the degree of gravity with your uncle - it must be a terrible worry for you and your family.

Don't even think about blogging until you have the energy and the enthusiasm to do so. Take all the time you need.

Thinking of you.

Hi, Nancy.
Thank you so much.
My uncle is someone with an enormous will to live. If only that was enough.
Fortunately my aunt is improving, which is great. Her eye surgery went well and her recovery is going ok.
Difficult times. But we still have to hope for the best.
