What a disgrace. Bungling Portuguese cops?? Something should really be done about the disgusting press that the PJ are on the receiving end of. As if the ever ethical NotW have a better way of investigating a crime. They probably provoke many rapes themslelves by providing pictures of naked women with a "take me" expression on thier faces to any letch with no brain that buys that crap! That paper has done nothing but promote women as wanton sluts since the first paper rolled off of their filthy press and they think that they now have a moral highground on policing methods? WTF?

Thankfully, it is only brainless people that buy that trash and I don't think that they are a majority in the UK.

I also think that the people that did the most damage to the crime scene and scuppered the investigation from the start were Kate, Gerry and their merry bunch of wine-swilling, child-neglecting buddies! After all, what could the PJ have done when the mother herself couldn't even be bothered to answer important questions?

Grrrrr....indeed! Arrrgghh!

GA, you did a great job, have no shame.

Cold case chief Edgar.

The same guy who said whilst fawning over GMcC (his boss) and JT on set in Portugal it did not matter where they were standing only what JT saw, so let's go with G's account of that evening. FFS I cannot believe that this ex cop said that and on national TV. A child is missing, the parents claim she was abducted and this tw@ says what he said. Yet all we hear in the Press/Media is how KM is scouring the files with a fine tooth comb and forensically checking them. Since when did forensically mean nah that does not support what I want it to support it is not important! The British Press/Media are a disgrace and an embarrassment. Stop treating your readers like mushrooms kept in the dark and feeding them BS! Also since when is two considered a team? Are these two ex cops former Cold Case Investigators?

When Britain is whiter than white with no sex crimes or paedos, when they punish these people with sentences that fit the crime and manage to catch everybody that commits such crimes, that will be the time when they can point the finger at other countries. Until then they should shut the f..k up. This could actually end up that it was a British paedo who took M and that was made easy because British Parents left their kids home alone.
Will it still end up the fault of Portugal, I guess it will, for allowing tourists and not having a large enough police force to deal with this kind of tourist.

I do not think there was any need to make such remarks at this stage. As yet those who are condemning others are only talking about what was not done which they feel should have been done. When they actually can prove for themselves that M was abducted then they can blow their own trumpets as much as they like. There could have been an ugly man Paedo convention in town at the time but that does not automatically mean she was taken by one of them. However the News of the world, known as the news of the screws, is not a paper that is valued as reporting NEWS, it just sensationalises any crap it can find.

Thanks Gina. I didn't think our press would be brave enough to publish an article like that!

Those two cold case detectives may have demanded free-reign over the supposed investigation, but by now, they must have realised how much money is involved in the case and of course, they'll get a nice fat cut of it only if they show the McCanns in a good light. I do not believe that they are corruption-free!

Hi Cláudia, as you know, I'm phobic about buzzy stingy things, but about half of the hive tends to swarm which is around 20,000 bees. When they swarm, they're not even remotely interested in people and so even someone like me was able to stand a few feet away from them an watch. It was a real spectacle. I'd love to see it again but dad's getting worried about all of the swarms and so I hope they don't.

Dylan,

About 15 years ago my family and a friends family were spending the day on a little Scottish Island on the beach. It was one of those rare days where it was very sunny and hot and the children were able to go into the sea (still cold water but not freezing) and swim or paddle. Well the men and boys were playing footie on a grassy area just above where we were sitting, my friend and I were chatting away when we heard this low loud humming noise. My middle son zoomed past us like Billy Whiz, barefoot over the rocky pebble beach in the direction of the sea. When we looked round (our husbands and sons were lying flat on the grass) we could not believe our eyes there was a swarm of bees flying overhead so low it looked like you could almost stand on tip toes and touch them. My main concern was for my son who was up and running as I was worried they might go after a moving target. By the time I got up to go and get him (within seconds of hearing the noise and seeing him running) the Bees were a dot in a distant sky. Thinking back it was a lovely sight but terrifying!

Hi everyone -

These retired tecs are playing the media card for all its worth. I suppose they have to be seen to be earning their money from the Madeleine fund. Frankly, I find their revelations quite ludicrous -to quote the pink one! They have to keep them coming though to justify their wages I suppose. I wonder just how long it will be before they get thrown off the case as the Metodo 3 and others have been.

I must say that I find the non-reactions by the Portuguese authorities quite mystifying, but perhaps they are playing a waiting game for the time being.

Tonight the repeat of the Channel 4documentary 'Madeleine was here' will be shown. I'll not bother watching it again because, quite frankly, I hate reality television and this is exactly what it is - playing up for the cameras and there are many people out there who believe everything they see!

Hiya Zodiac -

Thanks for the link and I would just reiterate what I have always said and that is Jane Tanner made that story up. There is no way she could describe the man and what he wore, or indeed what the child wore from the distance she was from them. It wasn't daylight and the lamp nearby was not working either.

Even if passing by them along the same pavement most people would have looked at the child and not the man, unless they were suspicious, which she clearly wasn't because she didn't even tell Kate what she saw until later in the evening.

Jane Tanner herself said she just looked over and then thought no more about it.

Tapas 9: Checking the Children
Statements May 4th, 2007:

Rachael Oldfield:
After placing their orders, at around 9.15pm, Gerry McCann went to check, only his apartment. He was held up for nearly 10 minutes because, he said, he had been chatting with Jez about tennis. Today there was a tournament which they both had to compete in. During Gerry's absence, the waiters started to bring the food. Jane was also absent to check her apartment. Gerry returned shortly after Jane.

'Gerry returned shortly after Jane.'

Does that mean JT saw him twice? Firstly on her way to do her check and also on her way back. If she did not see him on her way back where was he as he arrived after Jane according to RO?

Hi all,

Zodiac, I can really sympathise. Kids come first and instinct makes us forget our own fears. If I didn't know what I know now, I'd have been off down the road and miles away before you could say "crackerjack". If somebody told me last year that I'd have stood and watched a bee swarm I'd have told them they were totally mad!! However, it was enthralling and a priviledge to witness and it was so safe that I brought Xxxxx out to see it too. I will never forget that sound. It was like the whole garden was humming. I googled swarms on youtube last night to remind me of it, but it's nothing like being there when it happens. Eventually, they all hang from something (usually a tree branch) and form a ball to protect the Queen until the scouts find more suitable accomodation. It's a bit like an ops meeting. Nobody knows how the swarm decides which of the scouts' location is the best from the way that they communicate it. Totally fascinating! In this case, they had no choice as my dad shook them into a box and put them in his spare hive. I am told they get really cross when the honey is taken away & so I won't be anywhere near them when that happens!!!

Here's a couple of links if anybody's interested (Cláudia close your eyes and ears!):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhEH3LEqx4I

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnPs-9FDAIA&feature=related

The third is a video of collecting a swarm and praying that they have the boxed Queen.

Sorry Cláudia, back to topic:

Nancy, Tanner claims to even have spotted what the pattern was on the child's pyjamas and the colour too. I would say that that was nothing short of a miracle, especially considering the light, the distance and the numerous changes of description ;-) IMO it is a whole string of lies.

Hi Dylan,

Just watched the Bee swarms. Like Claudia I was not afraid sitting in front of the laptop screen. In real life hmm I don't think so. The swarm I saw was a swarm flying in the sky a bit like a Red Arrows display.

I also remember when my daughter was a toddler. She was in bed sleeping we were downstairs. I could hear this little whimper coming from her room she sounded scared. I rushed upstairs, as it was summer her room was very light almost like daylight. She was lying rigid on her bed using only her eyes to look at her arm she was petrified. On her arm was the tiniest teeniest fly. I took it off and then she started to scream the way she wanted to when it was on her arm. When I think of that poor little soul who cried for one and half hours and nobody came, the child who was left in her holiday flat with her siblings and has now disappeared I feel sick to my stomach!

nancy said...

Hi Claudia,

Talking of hornets. A friend of mine's son and his wife went to France a couple of years ago (a young couple with kids) and they just arrived and sat on the terrace. A hornet stung him and he was dead within twenty minutes. A terrible tragedy for the family.

Of course, he must have had an allergy to them, as some people do to wasp stings.

I never worry about bees stinging me because they tend to leave you alone unless you worry them.

Wasps are a different thing - I've been stung a few times and it's damned painful!

nancy said...

Zodiac -

You are right - good thinking! Of course JT would have passed them twice if Gerry was there talking to Jez for ten minutes, unless they are lying about that too!

The biggest problem in trying to fathom out anything with this case is the fact that they are all lying through their teeth which is obvious from their amateurish statements.

They should all have been made to do lie tests immediately on their return to the UK.

The protection they have received from the police and government authorities is beyond belief!

Cláudia said...

Oh my God, Nancy. That's horrible.
What a tragedy.
xxxx

Anonymous said...

Nancy, what a tragic and horrible thing to happen. That's the problem with stings. You don't know who is allergic until an allergy occurs and hopefully the first reaction is mild. People who know they will suffer an anaphylactic shock carry special antihistamines with them, but there's no telling for a first sting who will react and it's too late if it's fatal. I am so sorry for them.

Bees won't usually sting though. They die if they do and so they will only attack if they think they are threatened. Stealing their food supplies tends to make them agressive and so I wouldn't go anywhere near them when the honey is collected. Wasps, on the other hand, are spiteful carnivours. They can sting indescriminatley as they don't die when they sting. I have had a major fear of them all of my life and the bigger they are, the more I hate them. That makes queen wasps and hornets one of my biggest fears. My ex had gone away a couple of years ago and I found a queen wasp in my bedroom. I had to go and find a neighbour to rid me of it, otherswise I'd have slept on my sofa and had no clothes for a week.

Zodiac, what you said about the fly is very typical of children. So many things that could happen when you leave them and, at the very least, I'd never forgive mylelf if I left mine and they were afraid. The thought of not being there to comfort them, no matter how small the problem is, is just heartbreaking. This is the very essence of why we believe that leaving them was wrong. For the most of us, it doesn't take an awful lot of imagination to realise just how afraid a child can get. I remember being afraid of my wallpaper FFS! I needed my mum to come and calm me down and tell me that the flowers on it didn't have eyes! Silly, but to a child it's terrifying.

Off to bed now.

Goodnight & sleep well.

It was a sunny day here yesterday and I opened the windows to let some cool air in throughout the day and closed them early evening. Well as you know I watched the youtube vids you posted. I was sorting out some paperwork whilst using the laptop and I heard this little bzz, the vids popped into my head and I was in fear mode as I thought a wasp must have flown in at some point during the day, I heard a little bzz again. I had my OH searching the study to find the wasp and get rid of it. Listen can you hear it I said when I heard it again. We stood quietly waiting on the little buzz. Hello, my name is Teresa and I am Portuguese. I would like to apologize for my poor English but after watching the McCann interview on Sic, I have been left with a nagging doubt. I googled the interview and found it again on a site called joana-morais.blogspot.com. I noticed that at minute 2.46, when speaking of the twins and how they were coping with Madeleine's disappearance, Gerry McCann mentioned that the twins "believe she was taken away and we don't know where she is".
I ask the English speakers if this is not strange. I would think that Gerry would have, instead, said something like "they know Madeleine was taken from us". Using "believe" sounds to me, almost as if saying "we've convinced them that". Is this just the result of my poor English? What do the English speakers have to say about this?

Hello Teresa

Another Portuguese lady with excellent English.

In this context I think that 'believe' is more appropriate than 'think'. 'I believe John is coming home today' implies that I have been told so. 'Think' here would imply that I have worked it out for myself.

Clearly the twins would have been told, not have come up with the idea by themselves, and thus they would 'believe' it.

If Gerry had said 'know' it would have invited a torrent of attacks saying 'how can the twins KNOW it when they were so small at the time?'

IMO, it is counter-productive to analyse word-usage at that micro-level.

Cláudia said...

Hi Teresa -

How I wish I could write another language as well as you. English is a particulary difficult language, especially when you are a native Latin speaker. I know that because I speak and write Spanish, but nowhere near as good as your English.

Regarding the twins being told about Madeleine, I believe it's wrong for their parents to continue bringing their sibling into their minds at such tender years when all sorts of pictures and imaginings could haunt them. I don't believe they would remember Madeleine as much as Kate and Gerry say, because two years have elapsed since they last saw her.

I sincerely the twins are enjoying their young lives with friends of their own age, and relatives of course.

nancy said...

I have been listening to the five tapes by GA translated into English on the McCann Files.

I think Goncalo could be right and that Madeleine fell behind the sofa after hearing her father chatting outside with Jez with fatal results.

JT, as I've said many times, could no way have seen so much being the distance she was away from the supposed abductor, and the fact she changed her description of him so many times. How does she live with herself?

Watching Eddie and Keela's amazing reactions to the apartment and the car again confirmed to me their owner's opinion that these dogs who have solved 200 cases in the past knew exactly what they found.

Amaral believes there was a cover up by the McCanns and those who sought to protect them and so do I.

Yes, he is making money from his book so that the truth as he sees it is known, but no more than the parents have been doing out of their daughter. For Clarence Mitchell to condemn him for that just shows what a hypocrite he is.
